Almost back to school . . .

We had to have one more sleep over with Devyn before school starting on Monday!
Saturday morning, Madi and I loaded up and head to Roswell to see Ethan in his play "Peter and the Star Catchers."  But first we visited with Grandma Heider and went to see Grandpa Heider up at his school.
Grandpa had to show us his new classroom before we left.
At The Liberty ready to see the play!
Ethan played a fabulous Ted character!
While we were enjoying family in Roswell, Matt had a fun guy day with Adam, Ryan, Brett and Eddie (his Friday morning bible study group).  They shot guns for charity . . .
And then enjoyed Beerfest that evening!

And it was a perfect afternoon for one last cousin-park date!

They played hide-n-seek and swung for hours!
Ready or not . . . School is here!

Drive-in Movie & Meet the Teacher Night

One day last week, the cousins all stayed at our house while Aunt Shelle and I had to work.  When I got home they wanted a snack so we made strawberry cake cookies!
Wednesday night we surprised Madi after she showered by saying "Get in the car we're going to the drive in movie theater with the Foley family!"

We went in our pajamas and had the best time.  The kids played on their playground while we waited for the movie to start.

It's hard to see but they were all piled in the back of the Foley's expedition.
The movie finally started!  Nut Job 2 was pretty cute!
Thursday afternoon we met Raeley and her mom Amy at the Cakery to decorate back to school cookies.
Not only is it fun, but the girls learn decorating tips and get to their cookies!
They decorated a pencil, ruler and a book worm.
Time to eat a cookie!
Thursday night we headed to Meet the Teacher at Madi's school.
This year she's in the new pod of classes where all the walls collapse when needed.  It's pretty neat.  We met her teachers Mrs. Gregory for ELAR, Mrs. Goolsby for Math, and Mrs. Williams for Science and Social Studies.
Nothing says summertime like blowing bubbles outside in the evening . . .

We have a few more fun things planned for the last weekend of summer before school starts on Monday!

Baby Shower Adventure

One of my best friends from high school, Shannon, is having her first baby in October and her shower was in Dallas this weekend.
I just knew I had to go since she lives in Philadelphia now and Dallas is a lot closer.
I decided to use my companion pass and take this little girl along with me for an adventure.  She loves to fly and get green tea from Starbucks in a hot coffee cup.  :)
We rented a car and drove about an hour up to Prosper to attend the shower.
The best part was Shannon didn't know we were coming and was so surprised to see us!  I can't wait to see her as a mom!

We ate a yummy dinner and then caught the last flight back to Lubbock that night.  We were tired but had a fun adventure!
Madi has been asking me to tell her funny stories from when she was a baby.  I saw this memory on Facebook and will have to show her.  We gave Madi her plate for dinner and turned around to see that she had moved every single one of the noodles off her plate and onto the table.  Silent protest? :)
On the way home from church . . .
Never a dull moment with this one!

How Much Can You Pack into One Week?

When Devyn was over playing, the girls decided to make puppy treats for their pets!
Monday morning fishing bright and early for Madi and her Daddy!
Monday was also the first day of art camp!
While working, Madi decided to Facetime me to explain something about the texts she was sending that would take too long to type out.  :)
My great group of Site Coordinators (minus one)!
Pictures from the art camp Facebook site!

One afternoon she and Maci found a baby frog and played with it all afternoon.
Shelle sent me these pictures complete with a frog bow in Madi's hair!
Thursday when art camp was over they had an art show for parents to view all the projects.
I was conducting a training so Matt went and saw all the amazing projects!
Thursday was the last swim meet before the two week fall break.
She competed in the 50 yard freestyle and back stroke plus a relay.  Final times aren't out but we think she won 2nd place in the 10 and under category on the freestyle!
Family pic with our little swimmer!
 Friday shopping adventures . . .
 Friday night at the Foley's
The kids had a blast all evening long.
We played charades with them and watched many of their dances and skits.
They always have the best time together.
What a fun week packed full of summertime!
