Lazy Days of Summer?

Saturday morning I found Madi curled up in our bed reading.
 But not for long!
Pretty soon Madi was helping her Daddy with yard work.
 And mowing the back yard.
So thankful to have a good helper around the house!

First Day of SUMMER!

Madi went up to work with me for a quick meeting Friday morning.
We put Netflix up on the Apple TV in my office.
But of course we also needed to visit the vending machines!
We headed to a swim meet Friday afternoon.
The first event was 50 Meter Breaststroke.
 She made third place!
Resting between events!
 Ready for our last event!
She swam the 100 Meter Freestyle.
 She won first place!
And she shaved 32 seconds off her time!
Hopefully, we'll enter more meets now!

More End-of-the-Year Traditions!

Another tradition I started was to have Madison write her name at the end of each school year.
It's simple and easy and fun to see how her handwriting changes.  I'm still partial to the hearts!
This is probably my favorite end-of-the-year tradition.
Again it's simple and easy!  One of her Daddy's old shirts with "Class of 2026" on it that she colored using fabric markers as a Kindergartener.

2nd Grade -2016
 1st Grade - 2015
 Kindergarten - 2014
Wow!  She's already changed so much in three years!

The Last Week of 2nd Grade!

So, this was delivered Monday afternoon . . .
We already had plans to meet Shay's and Shelle's family up at the pool to get our summer tags so I left to meet them and Matt sent me this picture to show me he was already filling it with water.
We went to dinner at Caprock with the Daniels after getting our tags.  We are ready for summer officially!
Madi, our practical joker, put a "pickle" in the fridge to trick her Daddy!
Tuesday was our last full day of 2nd grade.
After school Madi and I joined the Bishops at the Vintage pool for a few hours.
Then Madi went to a classmate's birthday at Altitude Trampoline Park.
All the kids had a blast and didn't want to leave.
We had a nice view from up here.
But Shay and I decided to sneak out and get some summer shopping done without the kids!
 Wednesday was a half day!
At noon, I picked Maisen and Madi up from school, fed them lunch and then took them to a end of the year party at Bodyworks.
Wednesday evening consisted of grilling out dinner, watching a movie on the patio, and . . .
 Enjoying our new hot tub!
No one was excited for the last day of school which also happened to be a half day!
Last day as a 2nd grader!
Compared to first day as a 2nd grader!
Matt took the girls to school and Ms. Janda sent me this pic.  I think they are excited for the last day!
I had data presentations all day so Grandma picked Madi up from the last day of school and met Aunt Shelle and cousins at 50th St. for lunch and games all afternoon.  She didn't get home until almost 5pm!  What a way to kick off summer break!

Living Museum - Jane Goodall

Monday morning was the Living Museum at Madi's school.
All the second graders picked a person to research and then presented their findings at the Living Museum in the gym.
Madi chose Jane Goodall.  Surprise!  She picked someone that helped and researched animals.  :)
Each poster had a "button" to press and then each student would start speaking.

Each poster also had a QR code to scan to view the presentation slides they created on their person.

Grandma, Aunt Shelle and Maci joined me and Matt to tour the Living Museum.
Maci loved the monkey, I mean chimpanzee!

 Me & Jane  :)
It was a neat experience and each of the students knew their person well!

Madison's Spring 2016 Piano Recital

Off to Madison's spring piano recital!
We love seeing Jenna at each recital!
Grandma Mayberry came to hear her beautiful music too!
Her song Dream Echoes was so beautiful!

 She didn't miss a note!
Beautiful flowers for a beautiful performance!
That wraps up 3 years of piano for us!  Can't wait to see what next year brings!
