The Lake

We love to go to the lake (my parents' house) after Christmas to just relax. The crazy weather followed us but we didn't mind at all. The lake is the BEST place to be when you're snowed-in!

Even though it was cold Madison wanted to bundle up and go outside.

We pretty much played Phase 10, Mexican Train and ate the 3 days we were there. Doesn't get much better than that!

Right before we left my dad accidentally stepped on Noodle's paw and pulled out one of her nails. It bled like crazy but she seemed to be fine the next day. Poor Noodle!

Madi loves Grandma and Grandpa's house for many reasons (candy, outside, . . . ) but the main one is ALL THE ANIMALS! My parents have two dogs and 6 cats. Madi is in heaven.

Here she is kissing Ruff. He is definitely her favorite.

Not sure why but she loved playing with the cat toys.

This is pretty much what Matt and my dad's morning looked like every day we were there . . . still in pajamas, drinking coffee and working the same crossword puzzles. I really did marry someone just like my dad. (Which is a good thing!)

We're looking forward to 2010!
Happy New Year!

Our Merry Christmas!

Christmas Eve started out quite interesting for us. We got 6 to 8 inches of snow I think and our cul-de-sac was blocked from all the stuck cars. We live across from a big park so I think with the wind and snow it kept blowing in faster than anyone could shovel it out. Matt helped get a few cars unstuck then came inside to get warm again. Madi wanted to get bundled up but only made it into the garage and touched the snow then said "let's go inside." She wanted no part of the cold wind and blowing snow!

My parents finally made it in 4.5 hours when it should have only taken them under 2 hours. We had a small celebration for my dad. He quit smoking one year ago Christmas day. He was a good sport to wear the "1" hat we made him. Cake and ice cream was had by all! Yum!

My sister's family stopped by for a little while to visit and open presents. You can tell how Madison felt about having them over to play!

Tucker the reindeer. He cracks me up. He is the only kid that will actually keep things on his head!

Uncle Cody and all the kiddos!

Uncle Rod, Grandma & Aunt Shelle

Grandma & Daddy goofing around. We grilled fajitas outside and it was the perfect Christmas Eve meal!

We opened gifts after dinner but I didn't get many. We were actually surprised Madi made it that late since she had no nap and fell asleep while chewing her dinner. I've seen kids fall asleep at the table but never while chewing. We laughed so hard and even got a video of it!

Here she is seeing her stocking Christmas morning. We made yummy breakfast burritos.

Here's the table my mom and dad got Madi for Christmas. She's really into sitting down to read or write her name and loves to play kitchen so this table will be perfect for her!

Before heading over to my sister's house for Christmas lunch Madi played a game of bowling with Uncle Rod on the Wii while Matt and I challenged my parents to a game of Mexican Train.

At Aunt Shelle's house . . .

We couldn't believe what Tripp got for Christmas . . . a UT snuggie! We gave him a hard time about liking UT!

Grandma and Grandpa on the couch as we watched movies.
Tucker playing in Tripp's room.

This picture is a little out of order but this was Christmas Eve night right before bed. Madi read the Night before Christmas then cuddled with her Daddy and puppies!

Christmas night we got stuck coming home from my sister's house. Luckily, we were right around the corner from our house so Matt walked home and got a shovel to dig us out. Madi slept through the whole thing. Crazy snow!
Once we got home we bundled up and played in the snow. I wrote her name in the snow and she walked around a bit but once she got her feet stuck in the snow she wanted to go inside.

This morning, Matt's parents drove in to have Christmas with us. We played, opened presents and ate a wonderful steak and baked potatos lunch. I have to brag on my in-laws for the great gift that got me. It's a Mobile Office case to carry my laptop, text books, etc when I start teaching at Tech in January. It's perfect since the parking garage is across the street from the education building. I'm so excited to get it all organized and ready for the first day! Thanks Bob and Janet!

The pink Madison-sized flashlight was a big hit. She loves to carry it everyone and shine the light.

Showing Grandma her Magnadoodle.

Great picture of Grandpa and Madi.

More playing . . .

We felt so smart using the timer on our cameras to get a picture of all of us!

As if we hadn't celebrated enough, tonight we met at Lujans for dinner and to celebrate Cousins Christmas with my mom's side of the family. We ate too much and had fun visiting that I only got two pictures and both are of my sister's family and none of my cousins. Maybe next time! Madison got some cute pajamas and we got a gift card to Chili's. Thanks Aunt Bev!

We have had a great Christmas but honestly I'm ready for everyone to go back to school/work so I can take a break from our break!

My Two Favorite People!

Madi has no choice but to be a Dallas Stars fan. Her Daddy loves hockey and watching the Stars play (which he'll argue is not near enough). Here they both are dressed in their Stars gear.

These are my two favorite people in the world.

Santa and his adorable reindeer!

Merry Christmas!
