Girls Trip!

The Daniel Girls invited me and Madison on a girls only weekend trip to Dallas to celebrate Maisen's 7th birthday!
We've been planning it for almost two months so these girls were pretty excited when Friday afternoon got here.
We got the girls out of school early and got on the road.
The traffic was backed up once we reached Weatherford so we spent some time in Target.

Our first destination when we pulled into town Friday night was to have dinner at Magic Time Machine.
While you wait for your table they tell you to go upstairs and have fun.
There was face painting, a caricature artist, tarot cards, psychic, old games, a dance floor and much much more!
The girls picked out a rainbow butterfly.
We were seated at the Valentine booth for dinner.
The doorway was a heart that you had to go through to get in.
All the staff is dressed up in costumes for fun children characters.
Here's Diego!  They give you an autograph book which the girls filled up with GI Joes', Snow White, Superwoman, Aurora, and many more autographs.
Back at the hotel all cleaned up and even got Sarah's (our American Girl doll) pajamas on.
This is new territory for me.  The dolls had a table at breakfast too.
We decided on a quick small McDonald's breakfast since we had big lunch plans. The oatmeal at McDonald's is surprisingly good.
Loaded up and headed the long-awaited American Girl store.
We got there early with time to spare.
Since we wanted to get the dolls' hair done we were told by friends to get there early since they only take appointments in person.  :)  I can't believe I just really typed that sentence.
 On our way . . .
 Choosing hairstyle and ribbon colors.
Sending Daddy a "We miss you" picture/text.
They strapped the doll in and even put a cape on her.
Madi was kind of disappointed that we got her the curly headed doll because it makes doing her hair very difficult.
But after watching Elizabeth fix her hair I was pleasantly surprised that I can come, wet and style the doll's hair plus make it go back to curly.
Madi was VERY happy with the end result.
Then we spent a few hours shopping in the Galleria.
We were hoping to take the girls ice skating but didn't have time before our lunch reservation.
We headed back to the American Girl bistro for lunch.
They had crowns for the girls and even had chairs for the dolls.
I wasn't sure what to expect for lunch but the food was so good.
I got spinach dip for an appetizer and a grilled chicken sandwich that was wonderful!
Then we sang to Maisen when they brought out an adorable birthday cake.
The cake was half chocolate/half vanilla and they served ice cream in frosted cones.
The girls and their dolls got goodie bags full of presents.
We headed back to the hotel for some pool time!
Then we showered, got dressed and headed to all the outlet malls in Allen.
Madi wanted to sleep on the pull out couch but only lasted a few minutes before she joined me in bed again.
Sunday morning before heading home Madi said she wanted to live in Dallas because it felt like her natural habitat.  :)  I think we have a traveler in the family.
We tried a place called Benedict's for breakfast on the way home.
Shay and I tried their signature chicken and waffles since we've only heard of this before but never have seen it on a menu.
We loved it!
We were ready to get home and see Matt/Daddy but we had the best girls weekend!

Surprise Fair Trip!

The Heiders headed to the fair Tuesday night.
We were planning on skipping the fair this year due to all the rain and many fun things we have planned this fall.
But then I typed my name and number into a contest for one of our local news stations and got a phone call with free tickets!
Matt got a turkey leg and I got a fried cheese on a stick but all Madi wanted to do was ride the rides.
This slide was definitely a favorite.
She wanted to see the giant talking robot but from a safe distance. :)
She liked all the rides that required movement.
The obstacle course was another favorite.
And what kid can pass up a blow up slide?
We stopped to the animals too.  Madi wanted a picture with the peacock since that's what she'll be for Halloween.
She loved going in the pen with the animals so she could pet the sheep and goats.
Although it wasn't planned our spontaneous trip to the fair was a success!
