Drive-In Movie

Another summer bucket-list item was the drive-in movie theater.
Matt took me to this theater to see the Notebook for one of our first dates over 9 years ago!
We wanted to take Madison there too.  So we borrowed Monster's Inc. from our friend Kristin and had a movie night so we'd be all set to see Monster's University.
It's wasn't hot or cold but the wind was BLOWING!
We toughed it out for a while sitting in the back of Matt's truck then we turned his truck around and moved inside the cab.
We rolled down the windows, cuddled under pillows and blankets and munched on fun snacks.
It was such a fun evening!
Madison asked me today if the drive-in is open every Monday night implying we should go more often! :)

First Tomato!

Madi ate the first tomato off her plant.  She said, "It takes good just like the rest!"
We had breakfast for dinner the other night before heading to the musical courtesy of Madi and Daddy's homemade biscuits!
Matt and I taught Madi's Sunday School class to help out our friend who just had a baby.
Matt wore the "listening ears" and cracked me up.  He said he just wanted to be a Mayberry for the day since we all have big ears.  :)  Madison loved having us in her classroom and I think the kids actually learned something so overall it was a good day!
Madi was so excited to go to Katy Jane's birthday party especially since it was at her house.  They had so much fun in the princess bounce house and her playhouse.
She's always wanting to play at friends' houses or invite friends to our house. :)
Hopefully, we can do more of that this summer.

Peter Pan Moonlight Musical

I've been wanting to see a Moonlight Musical for the past few summers, but it just hasn't worked into our schedule until this year!
Madi's dance camp theme was Peter Pan since the lead actor was an ex-Dance Gallery girl.  The last day of dance camp some of the actors came to visit.  Each dancer was given a free ticket so we bought two for us and off we went!
We weren't too sure about the weather but it ended up being perfect!  Not too hot or not too cold!
You bring your own chairs and snacks which makes it really nice.
They saved one whole section for Dance Gallery members so we sat with all of Madison's friends and family.
Lauren, Madison and Emery sang and danced to all the songs!
We weren't planning on making it to the end of the performance but we did.
I hope to make another show soon!

Busy Summer So Far!

Noodle has been replaced by Chicke!
I'm surprised that Chicke let's Madi handle her like she does all the time.
It's pretty funny to watch. :)
I've been shopping a lot lately.  Not a good thing.
I must have this skirt for Madison!
We met at the Splashpad for a play date.
The kids loved playing in the water, running through the grass and then playing on the playground over and over!  The moms loved being able to sit and visit while the kids played!
We went to Lauren's birthday party at Rock Solid.
Madi wants her 6th birthday there too.  Guess I better start planning.
Madi had a surprise visitor waiting in the car for her when we picked her up from VBS last week.
She just had to test out the boat she made at VBS in her bath that night.  :)
While I worked last week Madi and Daddy went on many dates.  This picture is from their lunch date at Firehouse.  Not sure why she's turned at that angle!
Madi, the golfer girl, riding on Daddy's bus to take his students to summer workout!
We had family movie night the other night to watch Wreck It Ralph.
 It was pretty cute.
But most importantly, it was a relaxing evening.
I finished up Madi's dance shadow box for this year once her pictures arrived.   I can't believe she's been dancing for 3 years already.
Last Thursday I finally decided what we should do with this space in our living room.  And by Saturday afternoon we were the proud owners of a (new to us) piano.  I can't wait for Madison to start taking lessons this fall.
Madi met a goal this summer and her prize was to paint anything she wanted at Clay Cafe.
She picked a cute weenie dog.  Can't wait to see the finished product!
Singing & dancing in the rain!
Such a rare evening for us to be sitting outside enjoying the rain!  So thankful though!
Our sweet Daddy leaves us little notes from time to time when we miss him at breakfast.
Madi's note says "I love you so much!  Have a nice day!"
Madi asked for a picture before running errands.  She loved her outfit!
Madi had dance camp all this week and I kept forgetting to get a picture so Daddy snapped this one for me on the last day.  We're going to the Peter Pan Moonlight Musical tonight to wrap up Dance Camp week.  Should be fun!
Last night we had dinner at McAllisters and Madi picked the BIG tables to sit at.  The small things make her so happy!
I'm hoping summer slows down for a bit because the last 3 weeks have been a BLUR!

Father's Day 2013

Grandma & Grandpa Mayberry came to visit the Saturday before Father's Day.
While the guys went golfing we took Grandma to breakfast at Cracker Barrel then shopping.
We finally found a HUGE bag for the pool.  It's not the cutest but it holds everything.
We got one for Aunt Shelle and the Tullos' family too.
Then we made brownies for our celebration later that afternoon.
We all met at Aunt Shelle's house for tacos and brownies and ice cream after the guys finished golfing.

 There was a lot of relaxing . . .
 And even more playing!
Grandpa & Grandma with the grandkids minus Miss Maci that was taking a nap.
Sunday morning before church Madi gave Daddy her Father's Day gifts.
She answered a bunch of questions about her Daddy.  She said she loves when he takes her on his school bus.
Madi was so proud to give him the mug she made all by herself.
She picked out the colors on her own and did all the painting and writing.
It made my job much easier too this year!
Happy Father's Day to the best Daddy we could ever ask for!

Zoo Trip!

After a cousin-filled weekend, Aunt Shelle and I hopped in the car with the kids to go visit Grandma and Grandpa Mayberry.
These kids were tired!
 This one made me laugh!
Maci taught Grandpa how to work his phone.  He was amazed at all she could do!
After dinner and a golf cart ride, these four begged Grandma to get in the hot tub with them.
Tripp loves ruining pictures with funny faces.  Ah good times!!!
Monday morning we did a little road trip to Abilene to visit the zoo and have lunch.
We brought our own zoo to the zoo!
The weather was nice and there was a little breeze to keep up cool.
Grandma bought us tickets to ride the train through the zoo.
It showed us where all the animals were located and a few interesting facts along the way.
I thought this was a fake alligator.  But it's Albert and he's been here since the zoo opened.  :)
Maci kept getting closer and closer to the peacock.  She would've touched him if we would have let her!
The peacock just walked around where ever he wanted.  Madi is just fascinated by peacocks for some reason.
They had a huge section of flamingos.  There were two babies as well.
The giraffe exhibit was the best part by far.
Grandma bought each of the kids some crackers to feed the giraffes.
Shelle wanted me to get a shot of how wrinkly the giraffes are on their backs.
The kids weren't scared at all and even touched the giraffes and their tongues.
 The giraffes LOVED their crackers!
 Next up, ZEBRAS!
 Then LIONS!
Towards the end we wanted a picture in front of the giraffe exhibit because it was so neat how you walked up the ramp and the giraffes were at your feet.  The zoo is expanding this section in the coming years.
Then we fed the fish and ducks.  I was amazed at all the fish.  Too many for me!

 Grandma & her Zoo

A quick pic on the hill before they rolled down it!
Sister pic to show that we were there too!
 Only at Grandma's house . . .
 is this a normal occurrence!

We played a game Monday night after a LONG but fun day at the zoo.
I won!  We had some not too happy kiddos!
Tuesday morning all 4 kids were piled in Grandma and Grandpa's bed watching cartoons!
Then we loaded up and headed home.
And as if that wasn't enough fun, we went straight to the pool for an afternoon in the sun!
Madi fell asleep on her bed one minute after we arrived home that afternoon!
