Dirt + Water = Mud

Madi can find dirt anywhere, no matter how small it is. She had so much fun taking all the dirt outside and using the dogs' water to make mud. Which she then caked all over herself, the back door, and everything else she could get her hands on outside. Here's what I found when I went outside . . .

So, off we went to take a much needed bath . . .

I have a new appreciation for ring around the tub now!

The next day we stayed away from the dirt/mud but played in the doghouse. She scared me because I couldn't find her at first until she looked out the doghouse door.

Kennedy & Keegan came and played with us Thursday. We had great plans to go to the park in the morning and swimming in the afternoon but the rain and 70 degree temperatures changed those plans. Instead we took a morning walk, ate at McAlisters and went bowling. But first I got a picture of Madi and her "friends" -

Another great week in the Heider household. Another week until Matt goes back to work! Yeah!

Curls, what curls?

The biggest question, by far, that we get asked EVERYTIME we go somewhere by almost EVERY person is, "where does she get those beautiful curls?" Well, my response is always "from her grandpas I guess." My dad's hair has always been short but when he lets it get a little long it curls out immediately and below is a picture of Matt's Dad Bob in his younger days with obviously curly hair (couldn't find a pic of my dad's curly hair). So there you have it! Madison's beautiful curls are courtesy of her grandpas!

We decided to do a little summer cleaning/organizing in the garage while Matt was off of work this week. Matt said we should take before/after pics and post to the blog. Since he doesn't make many suggestions I thought I'd oblige him. Here's the before pic with everything just stacked at the front so both cars fit in.

While Matt was working I thought I'd share the adorable dresses Madi's Grandma Heider has made her recently. My goal was to have her model them but she was having no part of that. So here they are on the table and hanging on the chair. The far right dress is her 4th of July dress, next to it is a cute flip-flop print dress with a matching hat, then a cute winnie the pooh jumper style dress and lastly a cute dress with shapes all over it. Don't you wish you had such a cool, talented Grandma like Madi? Ha!

and two shelves for storage. It is so nice, clean and organized. So if you know me at all, you know I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! Thanks honey!

That morning we also broke out the ole wagon again for a walk at the park. Yeah, tucker is big enough to sit with Madi! He loved it!

Then it was bath time! I sure miss giving sweet little ones baths in the sink!!!

Playing Catch-Up!

I usually try to post twice a week but I guess I got behind somehow. Oh well!

Last week Madi and I went bowling with my sister and her kiddos. With this 100+ degree heat we've been trying to stay inside more. Madi didn't bowl of course but she had fun just the same.

Tucker enjoyed watching all the kids bowl.

I promise my face is not that shiny but for some reason when someone else uses my camera to take my picture my face always comes out shiny. Need to work on that!

Morgan is the best helper! She can put Tuck to sleep just like that!

While my mom kept Madi for us last week she gave Madi Fruity Pebbles to eat. Well of course they were EVERYWHERE!!! When we asked her why she gave them to her, she said "because she wanted them!" So now Madi wants them all the time and being the great mom that I am I gave in and gave her some. And of course again they were EVERYWHERE!

Definitely not a kid-friendly food!

On Wednesday, we took Madi to my sister's house and went to Outback and to see the Proposal for our 4th anniversary! Dinner was great and the movie was cute!
(again our faces are not that shiny!)

I kept Madi's friend Nora and her sister Lydia Thursday morning so the girls could play while Nora's mom got her hair cut.

I was so proud that I got a picture of all three sitting still and actually looking at me!

Madi LOVES to play dress up with anything of her Mommy or Daddy. Here she is wearing Matt's flip flops and he tied his belt around her waist after she tried over and over and couldn't get it to stay.

She can even walk in them!

Then Friday we headed to the lake to see my parents and have a little r&r. Right when we got there Madi had to put on the earrings, bracelet and shoes Grandma got her. I loved shoes like those when I was little.

Out came the shoes again but this time the bracelet and another bracelet went on our shins! Not sure about that!

Madi loves being at the lake because she can come & go as she pleases (or so she thinks).

Madi found my brother's baby shoes that my mom had bronzed. She was too funny trying to put them on. She tried more than once.

This is my favorite memory of this visit! I didn't realize my baby shoes were in my parents' office. But Madi found them somehow and put them on this radio and put her shoes right next to them. I don't think she realized they were my shoes only that they were her size, but my heart melted when I found them side by side.

This girl definitely has a thing for shoes!

We had a great visit but there's no place like home!
