Austin Volleyball Tournament

We had a great time in Austin for Madi's volleyball tournament!

It was two days of playing a lot of games but we found time for a few good meals, shopping and walking down sixth street to try Voodoo Donuts.

The girls played so well and ended up losing their last game so it made them in 3rd place.

Proud of Shark Attack!

Can't wait for the next tournament!

Valentine's 6005E

We thought it would be fun to get Madi a personalized license plate since she'll be driving this year.  We have always called her Goose and now her club volleyball team calls her that since there's another Maddie on the team.
Matt typed in "6005E" as his first choice and it wasn't taken!
It was set to arrive on Valentine's Day so we thought that would be a great present!

We also celebrated with a heart shaped donut and some of her favorite dark chocolates.
Madi also had a party with her school volleyball team.  They had a secret valentine and brought gifts for each other.

Looks like they had a lot of fun!

The restaurant I went to with work friends on Valentine's Day had heart shaped straws!  What a cute detail!
The next night, I hosted my Sunday School's Favorite Things party!

It's always a great time!
Madi's been working out extra hard lately!

We were so excited that Coach Anderson was named as the head coach at Liberty next year!
We are excited for next year already!

Axe Throwing & Super Bowl!

Madi spent the night with Ava Saturday night after watching her place volleyball.
Sunday after church, our small group met for lunch at Cook's and then went axe throwing.

None of us had ever been before and we all loved it!

I wasn't having the best luck at first then tried a different axe that Madi suggested.  Then I started to actually score points!

Love our small group!

After Doug's family dinner, we went to the Devitt's for Super Bowl fun!  Madi hung out at some friends' house for the evening.
Forgot to post this from last Monday where we celebrated Jeromy's birthday with a quick happy hour after work.
We sure love this season of life we are having with LOTS of friends!

Goodbye, Doug. For now.

I got some really sad news last Sunday, February 5th.  My boss, my mentor, my friend died suddenly Saturday night.

We spoke at Doug's funeral.  It was one of the hardest things I've ever done but when Fanni asked us to share stories about Doug at work for his kids we knew we had to say yes.

Monday morning, the university honored Doug's passing by lowering the flag.

It was so hard to see this on the screens all over the building at work.
Robert wrote a great article about Doug's passion for education.

It was an honor to be included in the viewing with family Saturday evening and to be invited to dinner at Doug and Fanni's home on Sunday evening.
I wasn't ready to say goodbye, so I'll just say see you later.
