Costume is in!

Monday it was nice and warm.
And then Tuesday it was back to cold and windy.  Wish my hair looked that good blowing in the wind!  :)
 Wednesday
At dance, they handed out Madi's costume for her recital coming up.
Their song is about the Mad Hatter's Tea Party, I believe, so the costume is perfect.
They'll wear black tights and black ballet shoes.
 Thursday
I saw this on Facebook and had to send it to Matt.
He's always saying how Texans think they are the center of the world.  Guess this proves it!
Friday was Cap & Gown pictures for Kinder graduation so Madison had to wear a white colored shirt (something we didn't have!).  I went shopping and found a cute Nike golf shirt that she can also wear to golf with her Daddy.  At first she said "That's a boy shirt!" But once I explained that it was a girl golf shirt she could wear on the golf course with Daddy she was all better!
Friday night we ran a few errands and had dinner at Carino's.
Madi loves to wear our sunglasses so we took a couple of pictures before we left.
We went through the car wash on the way home from dinner.  Madison's new thing is to ride up front with us.
After bath time we practiced some math facts.
That might not be common in most houses but with two math teacher parents it's the norm around here!

Project Weekend

We finished up many projects this weekend!
Madison wanted her fingernails painted so while we waited on Grandma and Grandpa Heider to come over we painted them a pretty pink.
She didn't think it was much fun waiting on them to dry though!
 A normal site in our house . . .
After a bunch of hard work in the yard we went to lunch at Cracker Barrel with Grandma and Grandpa.  I saw this Ant Farm and told Matt it would be a great present for Madison!  I'm not sure he agreed with me!  :)
Matt and Madi made a bench out of an extra piece of wood we found in our backyard.
We've been looking for a very thin bench to use in our garage to sit and take our shoes on and off since our hardwood floors show so much dirt!
It fits perfectly and works great!  Exactly what we've been wanting.
Next up was a chair for Madison's desk.
My mom brought an old chair she had for us to use.  And Grandma Heider covered it for me using some of Madison's comforter so it would match.
Madi and her Daddy worked hard sanding it down.
Then Madi and I painted one coat Saturday night.
 Then another coat on Sunday.
The finished product . . .
 Madison thinks it's perfect!
She's already created many things while sitting at her desk just since yesterday afternoon!

Green Thumb?

We headed to visit my parents Friday after school let out.
We haven't visited since Thanksgiving so we thought it was a good time to go since it was just my dad's 65th birthday last Wednesday.
First stop . . . to visit the donkeys!
Madi showed Jack & Jill the picture she drew of her Grandma and Grandpa.  I love the grey hair!
Sunday afternoon Matt and Madi planted a few seeds.
They planted a few herbs, some cucumber seeds and a sunflower.
Monday morning all ready for school!
Normally I chat with my mom or sis on my walk to Tech but Monday morning I was just enjoying the beautiful morning.  The tree-lined walk way and fountain are both great ways to start my morning!
Monday afternoon I offered to keep the kids so Shelle could go to the store.
Maci would stay laying down in Tucker's room so I put her on Matt's side of the bed and told her not to move.  And she fell right asleep!
Madi has started bringing home books to read from school twice a week.
She's supposed to read to us and anyone else that will listen.
So far our dogs, Tucker and Grandma Mayberry (over the phone) have been the lucky recipients.
Tuesday morning, Madi wanted to take a picture out front.
Wednesday was warm so we broke out the short sleeved shirts and shorts!
I was in the mood to clean so I would rearrange the furniture different ways and text pics to Matt for his opinion.  Thank goodness he doesn't mind!
Wednesday afternoon we had to miss dance so we could go register Madi at her new school for the fall.
It's crazy but 4 out of the 10 in her class now will be going to the same school Cooper Central!
While we filled out paperwork Madi was busy taking pictures of Hudson.
 And Jayden.
It's blurry but I tried to take a picture real quick of the teachers taking the kids to visit the classrooms while we finished registering.
Afterwards, we all planned on having a park play date to celebrate registration but it was super windy so we all met at Cup of Yo! instead. :)

Shelle called and asked about how many ounces in a quart or something like that so I found this neat graphic on Pinterest to help remember all the conversions and sent it to her.
Madi's herbs sprouted up out of nowhere!
She moves them to three different locations in the house to maximize sunlight until they can move outdoors.  I think she may have the green thumb of the family like Grandpa Heider?!? :)
Thursday it was back to cold weather again!
So I taught Madi how to play Go! Fish!.  One of my favorite childhood games.
Tortellini was on the menu but Matt surprised us by saying "let's go to Roadhouse, girls!"  So off we went! :)
Friday morning Madi brought me a picture of the life cycle of the butterfly and explained all the stages.  Pretty impressive! She wanted to send her Daddy a picture to show him too.
The plants have all sprouted up and we couldn't be more excited!
You would think we had never seen plants before with how excited we get each morning when we check them.  :)  The herbs might not all make it since Madi dropped them and spilled all the soil on the carpet.  We put it back best we could so now we just have to wait and see.
 Friday morning
 Mommy & Madi self portrait
Friday night we stayed in and cooked steaks on the grill and made brownies.
The perfect beginning to the weekend.

Guess Who?

Guess who wasn't in a very good mood last weekend when they came to visit us?
I'll give you a few guesses, but I don't think you'll need more than one! :)
It's a bummer since Tripp and Madi look so cute in these pics!

Monday
We met the cousins at CFA Monday after school so we could keep this munchkin while Tucker went to the dentist.
 Tuesday
 Wednesday
Back to cold weather!  Woke up to snow!
But Madison was so excited that it was cold enough to wear her legwarmers that Grandma Heider got her one more time!
 Thursday
Wearing Daddy's house shoes and holding Noodle.
A typical site at our house.
Madi made me a butterfly and had her Daddy send me a picture of it while I was taking a bath.  Ahhh Technology!
Then I got a visitor while I was trying to relax in the tub.  She kept getting closer and closer until she was practically IN the tub with me.  :)
 Friday
We are ready for the weekend in our house!
