Bringing Home the Saxophone!

Last Saturday, Matt and I attended the soft opening of Costa Vida.  The owner is from Roswell and invited us.  It was really good plus it's right by our house!
Later that night, we grilled out for dinner and had game night!
Matt snapped a picture of Madi at church with the row FULL of girls.  We are so thankful that our closest friends are our church friends.
Sunday after church, we met my family for lunch and to surprise Grandma with a new car!  She was rear-ended in her other car so it was time for a new car.
 Monday
Madi was issued her school iPad on Monday.
She couldn't wait to show me all the features so when we parked in the garage she had to show it all to me!
 Tuesday
 Wednesday
 Thursday
Madi showed us how to put together her saxophone and play a few notes.  She taught herself how to play Mary had a Little Lamb. She looks like a legit sax player to us!
Friday
Madi is absolutely loving middle school and we are so thankful!

First Middle School Dance

Friday night was the first middle school dance.
All the 6th grade moms talked and planned to meet for dinner at Rosa's before the dance.
I thought it was fun seeing all the 6th grade boys and girls excited for their first dance, but this dad didn't think it was all that fun.  :)
Thankfully, he's still her favorite boy!
Taking a group pic and Mr. Brent (Maisen's dad) had to jump in!  :)
The girls ready for the dance!
Gracie, Devyn and Madi are spending as much time together as possible before Devyn moves.
While the girls were at the dance, we met our Sunday School class at 4ore Golf for a fun night!
We snacked, played golf and just enjoyed visiting before picking up the girls!
Saturday morning, the church youth group had a social at Altitude for a few hours.
These girls had so much fun after a dance, sleepover and Altitude.
They all said they couldn't wait to go home, eat lunch, and take a nap!

First Full Week of 6th Grade!

Monday, we were all smiles for the first full week of 6th grade!
Monday afternoon was the time for us to go and buy her saxophone!
She can't wait to learn how to play!  Hoping all those years of piano lessons help!
Tuesday, she took her saxophone to school for the first time.
 Wednesday
 Thursday
Aunt Shelle sent us this picture of Tripp in his new letter jacket!  How exciting!  We are ready for another great year in Jayton!
After school on Thursday, we stopped by Tea 2 Go for a quick treat!
 Friday was picture day already!
Can't wait to her beautiful smile in the pictures!

Hello Middle School!

Wednesday, August 14th was the first day of 6th grade and Middle School for Madi!
Honestly, she wasn't a huge fan of school in elementary so we were hopeful that she would LOVE middle school and thankfully we were right!

 Thursday
The second day of middle school was also noteworthy since it was the first time Madi ate lunch in the school cafeteria.  It helps that their cafeteria looks like a mall food court but either way we are happy!  She still wants to take fruit and vegetables but she had spaghetti on Thursday and then a hamburger on Friday.
Thursday was the first day back for all my site coordinators.
We all wore red and black and had our picture taken to represent a new year!
Shelby brought these cookies and they were so cute and tasted so good!
 Friday
Saturday, Matt went with a bunch of guys to a shooting event for a charity.  Madi tried on all of his gear when he got home.
Saturday evening our Sunday School class had a swim party to celebrate the end of summer!
It rained right in the middle but thankfully they had an awesome pool house that we ran into. But the kids ended up swimming in the rain!
 Madison, Allison, Rylee and Madi
Sunday after church we went shopping for grey shirts for pre-athletics.  Thankfully, we finally found some at Old Navy.
Sunday afternoon Devyn came over to play.
We are in denial that Devyn and her family are moving to California soon.  They will be missed so much!

Swimathon, Open House, Scholar Dinner, Promotion Sunday & More!

The Swimathon was last Tuesday morning.  So, we were up at the pool at 7am so Madi could swim 100 laps!
This was my view for an hour and a half . . .
She did it!  I shade in ducks each lap and then after each 25 laps she gets a rubber ducky.  Fun way to monitor her progress!
Wednesday night was a church welcome swim party for the 6th graders!
Thursday night was 6th grade orientation.  Madi went for the afternoon with all the other 6th graders to tour the school, meet teachers and learn about everything!
Then we met up with her to walk through her schedule.  We had to celebrate with pizza for dinner afterwards!
Friday was our Raise Your Hand Texas scholar dinner at Cagle's Steaks.
These are just a few of the Charles Butt Scholars that receive an $8000 scholarship a year to become a teacher!
Our families had a great time celebrating their accomplishment!
We spent Saturday morning at Safety City for Elly's birthday party.
The birthday girl, Elly!
Sunday was promotion day for Madi at church!

Walking to youth instead of the children's building for the first time!
They had a family breakfast then while the kids went to youth class the parents heard about the youth program, events, etc.
Sunday night Madi joined Gracie and Devyn at a fun paint event at Devyn's church.  She left like this . . .
 And returned like this . . .
The was the after picture at Devyn's house since the girls all spent the night.  Glad I didn't have to clean up after them!
On Monday, Grandma Mayberry took Madi to get her nails done for school.  Then they picked up Grandma B and had lunch at Blue Sky.
On Tuesday, Madi went with Devyn and Gracie to Obstacle Warrior kids and then to lunch at Wendy's.  What a fun way to spend the day before school starts!
Tuesday night, we had a "back to school" dinner of steaks and potatoes and watched The Wizard of Oz since Madi had to read The Wonderful Wizard of Oz as her summer reading for ELAR.  She told us how different the book was throughout the movie.
It was a wonderful summer to say the least!
