HEB Leadership Camp

Monday started with more fun socks!
December 9:  Fred brought Madi a fun cactus ornament for her Christmas tree.
Then it was time to take Madi to school so they could load the buses for HEB Leadership Camp down in Leaky, TX on the Frio River.  Madi wrote an essay and then was selected by her teachers to attend.
Singing Hills was the name of the camp they stayed at for the week.
Matt took one last picture of our girl before she headed off to camp . . .
We tried to make the most of the week while she was away.  We had a pizza date night and went to Wilson Tuesday night to watch Tripp play basketball.  Grandma and Grandpa Mayberry rode along with us.  We also got to see the cousins. Poor Tuck had quite the shiner from an accident at school.
 Love watching our #0 Jaybird!
And we got to see these two "best friends" too!
There was no cell service at the camp so we had to wait until Thursday evening to see this girl and hear about camp. She took pictures thankfully to tell the story of her week . . .
She said they hiked Tuesday . . .

And went fishing on Wednesday . . .

Matt made Wednesday night into Thursday eventful by having an emergency appendectomy.  Thankfully, the surgery went well and it made getting our girl back Thursday evening even better.
December 13:  Fred brought Madi a wooden nutcracker for her to paint!
Friday - One day of school this week.  Not too bad!
Silly pictures in the truck while we went to look at Christmas lights and for ice cream on Friday night!

December 14:  Fred left a scavenger hunt for Madi that led to a gingerbread house kit!
We decided to try a new restaurant, Farmhouse, for a family Saturday morning breakfast.  It was so good!
Then it was time to work on the gingerbread house.
Madi wasn't happy with the finished product so she left a note saying "The Grinch wuz here!" to explain the mess!
We did a little Christmas shopping with Grandpa and Uncle Rod while Daddy stayed at home to take it easy.
One more week of school before Christmas break!  We can't wait!
